Description

So I was thinking about Vanellope having a new Presidential dress that doesn’t weigh her down or otherwise impede her movement after an ask related to her earlier, and I was thinking about a bunch of President Outfit doodles I made awhile back, so this.

Making the new dress was an exercise in compromise for Vanellope and Sour Bill. She wanted her usual color scheme, her usual skirt length, and nothing too heavy; Bill readily agreed. Sour Bill did ask for a nod to Vanellope’s heritage; Vanellope agreed so long as she could keep her regular boots. So the crown pin was added and the boots were made a part of it. Without being asked, Bill made sure her usual leggings were a part of it for that extra Vanellope touch; without being asked, Vanellope decided to wear her tiara (she later confessed to Ralph it was the only part of the old get-up she liked on the grounds that ‘I make it look good’).

The dress is now Vanellope’s go-to for anything formal in Sugar Rush as well as any meetings of Game Leaders. The old outfit still survives though, for very rare occasions - she wore it to Felix and Calhoun’s wedding, for instance, partly because it better fit the event’s grandiose feel and partly as a way to encourage Calhoun (‘if I can make it through a couple hours in this thing, you can make it down the aisle’).

And they both made it.

This is such a friggin' brilliant concept, and you execute it perfectly.  Every last choice here just flat-out works.  Using her original outfit as the basis for this one, but giving it a sleeker, more "professional" look, even as it kind of retains a child-like energy to it?  Love it.  Incorporating her Princess dress and crown into the design?  Love it.  The pose and expression perfectly reflecting her personality and attitude towards her new responsibilities?  Love it.  And you pull it all off with great coloring and line-work; lots of good lighting, nice crisp lines that have this really good, professional cleanness to them, and a lovely grasp of detail?  Love it, love it, love it.
